Finishing Night and Maus

Starter: 

Today you will finish reading both Night and Maus.
Create a prediction for how each story might end.

Make sure to support your prediction.

Vocabulary:

Your Definition: 
Activity: Determine the theme of the book and graphic novel.

Activity: 

1.  Maus Chapter Six

 In small groups, read through chapter six of Maus.
Each group will be assigned a main idea to analyze throughout the chapter.. 

Complete the Main Idea Tracking Sheet based on your assigned idea.
You will be responsible for sharing these ideas with the class. 

2.  Night Chapter Nine

Read the final two pages of Night.

Reflect on its impact and how it relates to Maus. 

3.  Socratic Seminar Preparation

Topic 
Identify a theme of Night and Maus and discuss how the ideas of family, conflict, and freedom relate.

You will have a couple of minutes to gather your evidence and ideas for the discussion. 


Repeat the steps that you followed yesterday.
1.  Find a theme based on the reading.
2.  Identify a quote that supports your theme identified.
3.  Create a HOT question based on ideas in the graphic novel.

We will have the seminar tomorrow!
